Organizational Development Network (ODN) of WNY

September 2014 Meeting Announcement

“Let’s Stop Meeting Like This!: Tools to save time and get more done”

A Workshop based on the just published book by Dick & Emily Axelrod

Presented by Barbara Bunker, their colleague and co-conspirator

Meeting Overview:lest stop meeting like this

The Meeting Canoe is a tested model for designing and planning meetings that is user friendly and can be taught in any organization to change the organization culture of meetings. Dick and I used it extensively in our work with Disney where they adopted it as their own and taught it extensively to OD and HR folks. It has just been published by Berrett Kohler in a new “how to” book that is very user friendly. I will have copies available for purchase at below the Amazon price ($ 12 cash or check while they last!)

Plan for our workshop

  • Getting connected around our experience in meetings
  • Meeting Canoe explained with handouts
  • Groups generate types of activities that work for each stage of the Meeting Canoe (we’ll take photos
and you will have the complete list as a reference)
  • Sharing of activities appropriate for each stage and our own wisdom about designing meetings that
    work
  • Using the Meeting Canoe to plan a real meeting (If anyone would like to get help thinking about a
real meeting situation please contact me before Sept 10th)
  • Books available for sale. If you want me to save you one, send me an email: bbunker@buffalo.edu
