Organization Development Network of Western New York (ODN of WNY)

November 2015 Meeting Announcement

Presenter: Nancy Lynch, Canisius College Management Department,
Lynch-Pin Consulting

  • When: Thursday November 12, 2015 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am (8:30 am to 9:00 am – networking; 9:00 am to 11:30 am – meeting)
  • Where: Canisius Center for Professional Development 300 Corporate Parkway, Suite 130, Amherst, NY 14226
Meeting Overview:

This is a follow-up to the February 2014 session on Positive Psychology implications for Organization Development. This session will review a set of positive practices that are most applicable to organization development (and HR and Coaching), and we will discuss how to apply them to our own organizations. I will also add new material and introduce you to my favorite new tool: The Positive Organization Generator (from Robert Quinn’s book The Positive Organization). The tool includes assessments, and 100 ideas in many categories such as: Building a sense of purpose, seeing possibilities, embracing the common good, and authentic discussions. If you’d like to get an early peek at the generator and related tools, you can sign up (for free) at liftexchange.com/generator.

We will work in small groups on scenarios that are suggested by participants. (I’ll have some ready just in case). So think about the kinds of positive changes you would like to tackle at the individual, group, or organizational level. Some possible focus areas might be how to build employee engagement, how to build energy in group discussions, how to reboot a change process, and communication challenges for leaders.
